Goodwood is the British motorsport calendar’s social centrepiece — three distinct event weekends each year (Festival of Speed in July, Qatar Goodwood Festival horse-racing in late July, Goodwood Revival in September) plus the Members Meeting in April and the regular flat-racing card from spring through autumn. The estate is a working ducal seat with the racecourse, the motor circuit, the hillclimb course running through the lawns of Goodwood House, an aerodrome, a hotel, a golf course and a country club all within the grounds.
The routing is the easier southern approach — A331 to the A3, then the A285 from Petworth through the South Downs National Park to the estate’s northern entrance. About 50 miles, 1h 15m wheels-turning on a normal weekend. Event days are different: Festival of Speed Saturday and Goodwood Revival Sunday close the A286 from Chichester to local traffic, and the A285 from Petworth is the only practical inbound route. We add 45 minutes of buffer for the final two miles on event days.
