Wheelchair-accessible long-distance taxi — anywhere in the UK from Hampshire and Surrey
Single-vehicle, door-to-door chauffeur in a fully accessible WAV with a hydraulic rear ramp and four-point securing. One car, one driver, one quote — Farnborough to anywhere from Cornwall to Edinburgh.
Why people book a WAV for long-distance over rail
Rail travel for wheelchair users in the UK is technically possible but practically difficult. Station-staff assistance has to be booked 24 hours ahead, ramps need to be in position at both ends, train changes mean repeated ramp deployments, and arrival at a destination station rarely matches the actual destination address.
A door-to-door WAV chauffeur removes every one of those friction points. The vehicle is on your driveway at the time you choose. The same driver takes you the entire way to the front door of your final destination. There are no transfers, no ramp coordination with anyone you have not met, and no waiting at a rank at the other end.
Our WAV is a Mercedes Vito-class converted vehicle with a hydraulic rear ramp, a low floor, four-point belt-and-buckle wheelchair securing, a lap-and-diagonal occupant belt, and head-and-side restraint. The wheelchair user travels facing forward. There are two additional passenger seats up front and one in the rear for a carer or family member, who travels free of charge.
Compliant with the Equality Act 2010
We operate under the Equality Act 2010 requirement that taxi and private-hire operators must accept wheelchair-user passengers without surcharge for the disability itself. Our WAV fare matches our standard V-Class fare for the same route.
For long journeys, comfort matters more
On a 200-mile run a standard private-hire WAV can be uncomfortable. Our long-distance WAV builds in pre-planned 10-minute comfort stops at accessible motorway services (Fleet, Cobham, Tibshelf, Stafford North all have Changing Places facilities).
Carer or family member travels free
A carer, family member or companion always travels free in the WAV alongside the wheelchair user. We do not charge extra, and we do not separate parties between vehicles.
“My mother’s wheelchair is wide and the rail option was going to take seven hours with three transfers. Their WAV took us door-to-door in under five hours, with one stop at Fleet Services that had a proper Changing Places loo.”— Daughter and carer, March 2026
What is included on every WAV long-distance transfer
Equality Act 2010 compliant fare, with no accessibility surcharge.
How to book the WAV
Tell us the wheelchair dimensions and weight, the pickup postcode, and the destination.
- Send the wheelchair details — WhatsApp +44 7778 356571 with manual or powered, width, length and approximate weight. This lets us confirm fit before quoting.
- Tell us your origin and destination — Full postcodes both ends, with any access notes — kerb height, lift access, narrow driveway, hospital ward number.
- Receive your fixed quote — One price covers the journey including driver, fuel, tolls, ULEZ/CAZ and the carer seat. No accessibility surcharge.
- Driver allocated and briefed — The same WAV-trained driver is allocated for the whole journey, including any return leg. Photo, name and direct number sent before the day.
- Door-to-door, single vehicle — Driver loads at your home, deploys the ramp, secures the chair, and travels through to your destination address — no transfers, no rank handoffs.

Quietly answered
Do you charge extra for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle?
No. Under the Equality Act 2010 it is unlawful to charge a wheelchair user more for the same journey because of their disability. Our WAV fare matches our standard V-Class fare for the same route.
Can a carer or family member travel with the wheelchair user?
Yes, always, and free of charge. The WAV has two additional passenger seats up front and one rear seat, so up to three travelling companions can join at no extra cost.
What wheelchair sizes fit your WAV?
Our Mercedes Vito-class WAV accepts manual, powered and bariatric wheelchairs up to approximately 800mm wide by 1300mm long. Send us your wheelchair model and we will confirm fit before quoting.
Can you book WAV transfers to airports and cruise ports?
Yes. Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, Southampton, Portsmouth, Dover and all other UK airports and cruise ports are covered with door-to-door fixed pricing.
Do you stop at accessible services on long journeys?
Yes. Your driver knows which motorway services have Changing Places facilities (Fleet M3, Cobham M25, Tibshelf M1, Stafford North M6, Wetherby A1(M)) and plans comfort stops accordingly.
How far in advance should I book?
For airport or cruise transfers, 24-48 hours is comfortable. For urgent journeys we can often allocate a WAV within four hours during operating hours.

“On time, immaculate Mercedes, the driver tracked our flight, met us with the right name card, and our luggage was loaded before we’d finished saying hello. Worth every penny on a long run.” — Google review, May 2026
